Introduction to Winter Paddling lesson

Want to keep paddling through the colder months? Unsure how to approach it? Not sure what you need to consider?

Join our first Intro to Winter Paddling lesson where we will go over what you need to consider in your preparations for winter paddling, where to find relevant forecasting information and key skils for paddling through the colder months. We will be covering cold water rescues so come prepared!

Forecasting information and where to find relevant information

Kit and gear for differnet scenarios

Safety equipment 

Cold water exposure risks and how to manage

We will have practical instruction on -

Cold water rescues

Paddle technique specific for cold environments

What you need – Please arrive in plenty of time to prepare for the lesson. Lessons start at the time stated so participants should arrive around 30 minutes early. Please come dressed in what you plan to wear through the colder months - changing rooms on site. Wetsuits can be provided if required please advise in advance of your session. Leave all personal belongings on land – do not enter the water with anything that is not okay to get wet or attached to your person.  

Ability and fitness requirements – All participants must be able to swim 50 metres. 

Venue – Leybourne Lakes Water Sports centre  Site Specific info – Please enter the country park by the main entrance. Turn left as you enter the main tarmac carpark following signs for Water sports Carpark. Park in the gravel carpark and visit the centre for a free parking ticket. Centre can be found over the wooden bridge at the beginning of the carpark.
